Hotel Stefanie

Excellent hotel! We went for our anniversary and brought our 1 y/o baby. It was our first international trip with her, we stayed a week and the hotel staff was incredibly helpful with our laundry and cleaning service as babies tend to be messy. They accommodated us by giving us a fold out bed for her and it worked perfectly.
They gave us a bottle of champagne and a very sweet congratulations note.

This is a review of the wonderful restaurant in the historic Hotel Stefanie in Vienna. I say historic because the Hotel Stefanie is Vienna's oldest hotel dating from 1600. That's more than four centuries of providing accommodation and feeding guests! It is named after Crown Princess Stefanie - Crown Prince Rudolf's wife. The beautiful restaurant also has a charming and covered outdoor Gastgarten in warmer months and a chic cocktail bar is in a separate room right off of the lobby.

Now at lunch during the week they offer a tremendous buffet for only14 Euro. At this buffet you have a daily selection of meat, fish, and veggie dishes as well as a salad bar, bread bar, and a tasty soup. Let's not forget a classic dessert and fruit. And the service is fantastic. Used plates are quickly removed, the buffet is continually restocked, and everyone smiles! At a recent mid-day meal here, I enjoyed an awesome salad plate, a tasty surschnitzel, salmon with a cream cheese topping, asparagus from the Marchfeld, veggies such as Zartweizen which I love, and Powidltascherln and fruit for dessert. I must confess - I did overeat a little bit ... but everything looked and tasted so good!!

To me the buffet at Hotel Stefanie is the best value meal in all of Vienna .... a real feast in a wonderful atmosphere - both inside and outside!

This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. My family and I arrived way earlier than the check-in time and they accommodated us immediately. The front desk staff is friendly and professional, the breakfast staff were attentive and fun, and the overall charm of this hotel cannot be beat. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. If you are in Vienna, stay at Hotel Stefanie!!

So far, so good here. We've been here two nights. The first night we were in the smoky section of the hotel (although our floor was labeled non-smoking). We asked to be moved and they were able to accommodate us for nights 2-3. We were upgraded to a double room with sitting area in the quieter and way less smoky section of the hotel.

The rooms are clean though they may want to start using the edging attachment that comes with vacuums. That's minor though - the rest of the room is very tidy.

Breakfast is included in the price of the rooms and there is a very nice spread. Lots of choices of meats, cheeses, breads, as well as yogurts & cereals. I think the breakfast alone would run you about 15 euros someplace else.

The staff has been delightfully helpful and speak great English. When we inquired as to where we might find the Christmas markets the man at the counter must have spent a good 5 minutes finding them and circling them on a map!

This is a 3 star hotel but I give it four stars for service and value.

10/10 will stay here again. Great location especially if you plan on using the tram. It was extremely easy to get to sites like Naschmarkt, Schröbrunn Palace, and even out to the beautiful Weinguts of Austria. Staff is all extremely friendly and helpful. We found ourselves ending the evening in the hotel bar enjoying some of the local wine and beer. Thanks to the wonderful breakfast spread containing complimentary bottles of champagne, you can live up to Drake's morning mentality with a bellyful of local delights.

This hotel is very well located just a few minutes walk from Schwedenplatz. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, albeit a bit small. My room had the bed on an elevated platform requiring a step up, which was fine going to bed, but almost caused me a tumble in the morning. There were other minor imperfections such as the shower located in a deep bathtub. Fine for me but could be problematic for some guests.

However overall the hotel is in good condition, rooms are clean, and the staff helpful and available. Breakfast is included and adequate. As some other guests have pointed out one can eat well and be full for the day.

I will definitely choose to stay here again next time I visit Vienna.

It's not the Ritz, but it is really nice for the money. You have to put up with rooms that are a bit cramped but everything else about the place is just fine. Subdued elegance, very clean and neat, internet works fine, and the breakfast is just fabulous. You can eat so well that it saves you buying much of a lunch. Eggs, bacon, sausages, cold cuts, half a dozen different breads and rolls, many cheeses, a cappuccino/espresso machine, etc. Oh, and all the champagne you can drink ! There is a streetcar stop right down the street or you can walk to the subway station at Schwedenplatz in 5 minutes.

I will be staying there again next time.
