Top quality hotel and you can sense this as soon as you walk up the steps. Classic, modern and smart, with a smart dining room and large terrace overlooking the harbour.
I've only rated not stayed here, but my parents have and said its wonderful-however it comes at a price! I can't image most people could justify more than 3 nights, but worth it for a short luxury break:)
Despite the smartness, the staff are relaxed and children are welcome:)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elliot G.Redhill, Britannia8113. maalisk. 2021
Great place to go for a drink, the cocktails are brilliant, the staff are knowledgable, friendly and professional. Their restaurant is serving some really good food too. If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion, these guys wont disappoint.

Our three-day stay there was marvelous, and I know we'd like to return some day!
The service, rooms, and restaurant were excellent, though the views looking out into the harbor and ocean exceeded our expectations and every angle was beautiful.
Internet and phone service was sporadic, so for those visitors who depend on modern technology, that can be a bit of a problem.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynnette N.San Diego, Yhdysvallat52026. lokak. 2018
We had a relaxing lunch here and enjoyed the view from the terrace. A plus is being able to leave the car by the stairs, and it is valet parked and returned promptly after lunch. No hassling with the one way system and finding the car park. This was in 2017 so trust nothing has changed.

This comment is about the restaurant at lunchtimes, well worth visiting, great views as always worth specifying a table with a view, or on the Terrace if the weather's good. Food good 2 courses about £20 without plonk.
it's somewhere we try and take visitors to the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert H.Hertford, Britannia0713817. helmik. 2009Ensimmäisen arvostelun tekijä
This hotel is actually in St Mawes and not Truro.
We have stayed here 3 times - once in summer, and twice at New Year.
The New Year experience is truly awesome. The core of the hotel used to be fishermens' cottages, and has retained a quaint feeling whilst being decorated and furbished to a great standard. In summary its a realtively small boutique hotel, where service and quality of food / wine is everything.
The food is truly stunning - it really is a fine dining experience. The staff throughout the hotel are not only helpful and polite, but very friendly and will bend over backwards to help you.
St Mawes itself is a very pretty, unspolit village on a headland with only one road to access it. It is great in summer, with its small harbour and a couple of small beaches, and in winter there are fabulous walks around the paths which make up part of the Cornwall coastal path, topped off by a pint of guiness / local cider or three in the pub down the road.
I would give this 6 stars if I could!

We now live near St Mawes which has the one down side that we don't get to stay at the Tresanton any more! BUT, we do get to eat there. Lunch is actually my favourite meal to take here because of the stunning views across to St Anthony's head and the open sea. Dinner is also wonderful because the restaurant is a beautifully tasteful venue so we really enjoyed ourselves Saturday night, especially with the extra hour we were looking forward to.
Here's the rub with these reviews: I would suggest that a plate of bad food at £5 was grossly expensive whereas £42 for three course when the food is so good should be considered very cheap! The Prosecco flowed like ermmm... wine! The staff are so professional and are led so well by Federica who I suspect has cloned herself - one person cannot be in so many places at one. We are already planning lunch there on Saturday to celebrate my wife's birthdayHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype-käyttäjä (Fred_t…)Truro, Britannia013415124. helmik. 2011Päivitetty arvostelu
Home made Icecream...yeah!!!
True cornish with all the international know-how.
Worth a trip. Catch the ferry from Falmouth and just pop over for the day.
Expensive but a bloomin' good memory!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 020. toukok. 2009Edellinen arvosteluIf you love Cornish Ice Cream then their ice-cream is home-made and top-notch.

This is a hotel that needs to be on your list.
You will see exactly why when you go.
Oh, and you can catch a boat from Falmouth, it's that easy! - Qype-käyttäjä (aormsb…)Lontoo, Britannia3715. heinäk. 2010
Spent a long weekend here at the end of May.
Wonderful location facing south over St Mawes Bay and St Anthony's lighthouse at the end of the St Mawes peninsula.
It's a very comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Definitely not somewhere to go for nightlife, but if you want a quiet cocktail as the sun sets, then it would be hard to do better than this.
Some easy walks from the hotel if you like a little gentle hiking to work up an appetite for dinner, and regular ferries across the harbour to Falmouth, the nearest metropolis.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
