Lotsa Mozza

I've been to so many restaurants/ eateries/ fast food drive thru's in my 20 something years on earth, and i've finally found it! THE worst restaurant EVER. It has potential, but just couldn't deliver. Where do i start.. Food: soggy fries or late night Denny's platter taste better than the chicken lasagna i had. Service: SO bad and slow and unapologetic, it makes service at a chinese take out place looks top notch.

I went on one feb weekend, while on a getaway at Palm Springs. Dinner time rolled around, restaurants around the area were packed. We were starving and this place was conveniently across our hotel (hotel Zoso, which happens to be one of the coziest i've been to). So perfect, and how can they screw up anything, with mozzarella? Boy i underestimated this place. They failed in so many ways.

We arrived, waited for 10 mins, before we alerted the waitress to clean a table (about 4 tables are clear, but none of dishes were cleared). One of 3 seemingly overwhelmed waitresses waved us. 20 mins passed. Should have seen the sign, but i am one to give people the benefit of the doubt, so i tolerated. sat for another 10 mins before we could wave a waitress (a different one) to get our drinks. Another 10 mins before we waved another to take our food orders. chance after chance to walk off, but no, we sat and waited patiently.

Got the Ceasar salad, which was decent, and we downed them fast. Got some garlic rolls as appetizer. They were cold, tough and swimming in olive oil. We ate some of these too. (starvation does strange things to people) 10 more minutes passed (an hour has passed, if you are counting), no one came for our refills, no one attended to our waving. Having lost my patience, i walked towards the fountain drinks machine, went around the counter and refilled 2 empty glasses. No one came over, or even cared. wow. mind you, this is NOT taco bell or mc'donalds, where i wouldn't think twice about refilling my own drink.

finished my second refill, looked down at time, we have now been there for an hour 40 minutes. No food. No waitress letting us know whats up, just no apology. I walked up to the counter, asked for our food. chicken lasagna and philly cheesesteak came. cheesesteak was ok. Bits and pieces of meat, hardly visible in way too much bread. Bread was tough, ended up just eating the meat! chicken lasagna... cant taste chicken, it looks 1/3 the size of its picture. I honestly think this was the leftover from someone's plate. 2 small pieces joint together, covered with thick layer of mozzarella. Oh yea i noticed the pathetic pieces! here comes the worst part: Mozzarella was cold and hardened. when i bit into it, the whole layer came off, tasting worse than string cheese. At least i know what to expect of string cheese. This was meant to be warm, but wasnt even close.

We couldnt wait to get out and try to save the night. My mood had turned from happy and relaxed, to disappointed, mad and agitated. Here is the icing on the cake: waited forever for our check, had to walk up to pay. The waitresses were standing around (not busy at all, just plain lazy and maybe on crack), asked if the meal was ok, smiley and seemingly content for having delivered "great" service, and gladly took the 20% tip (yes we felt bad, they were standing there watching me write the amount in) they so DO NOT deserve.

Such a disgrace to italian places everywhere, to the city of palm springs, and to restaurants everywhere. Urgh.
