On my fifth day in Berlin, I ate at the Massai !
One star for the look : The Massai is an African restaurant. From the outside, you can totally get this feeling. Once inside, you have travelled in an instant to Africa. The waiters are dressed with a white african-like uniform and the menu are... How can I say ? When the menu arrived at the table, I thought there were severals XD Not. Actually, it is a fully binded book and each page is really thick. It looks like the menu has been carved in wood. Really funny, I would like to be the waiter with a table for 4 ! :D
One star for the food : I asked for an Antelope meat. One the menu there was no specification about the rest. Just that there would be wild rice and vegetables. I had a soup as a started, which I had not ordered. It was OMG delicious. They I had my plate. When I say plate, I should say PLATE: I had never seen such a huge plate, could barely stand on the table. On this plate I had the meat, perfectly cooked, some vegies in some kind of coconut shell, some beans in another shell, some wild rice kept warm under another shell. I cannot really explain how good it warm. It was just... Beautiful ! If you want to try this dish, look at the section Cap Special of the menu and Antelop meat.
One star for the people : Really nice and helpful AND fast !
One star for the presentation : Every plate, bowl, is decorated with African designs and the word MASSAI. Really exotic :)
Anything else to add ? I have not put a five star, though I would really like to, because my friend thought it was way too spicy. And it was not actually specified on the menu that it would be that much. If you are in Berlin, think of my recommandation and Enjoy !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris M.Washington, DC, Yhdysvallat18952. huhtik. 2018Päivitetty arvostelu
This place was more of an experience than a meal. I would recommend this place to any meat-eaters out there. There are lots of different exotic meats to try and they were all very good. The people that work here are very friendly. The cocktails were also very good.

Wow. The ambiance here is so good. I have now found my go-to spot for amazing food in Berlin. The food was so tasty and the menu was robust and frankly, great, since they had vegetarian food as well. The waitresses there wore traditional/native clothing which I thought was so cool and added to the experience. My food and drink (Prince of Zamunda was so tasty) came out within 15 mins which is quick. Also, my food was served from a coconut shell and a wooden plank. AMAZING PRESENTATION. Staff also speaks English and German which is good. I recommend! 5 Stars.

Nice decor and tasty food, however, it is a bit pricey and it is a bit dark indoors.
I was quite disappointed with the braai platter: let's say that I expected something different from a braai (e.g. much bigger portion of meat)!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anne M.Berliini, Saksa62439. jouluk. 2016
Visiting this place isn't just to get food, it's an event. You get to jump into another world thanks to authentic African food and a great facility. It's time for Africa!

Both the food and the service were so bad that it prompted my review on Yelp.
Let me start off by sharing that my favorite food of all is Ethiopian and although I'm getting used to all of the Germanized, blanding down of food in Berlin, this restaurant is the most guilty. Not only that but my husband and I found their food just plain bad. My "berbere" sauce was like a really bland pasta sauce and my dish was served lukewarm by a very disgruntled waitress. Actually, all of the staff here seemed quite indifferent at best. We ate half of our meal and left as soon as possible. The only thing we liked about the restaurant was the decor and ambience, minus the miserable looking staff. We wondered if the staff were poorly treated by the management to warrant such sullen faces. Big disappointment.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine R.Miami, Yhdysvallat1139. huhtik. 2016
Absolutely exquisite food, decor, and service. Truly inventive menu for the daring, yet plenty of safe, delicious options for the less adventurous.

Really tasty, and original food !
Not cheap but the place is worth it : food is great, service is reallt nice and friendly, place is warm and well decorated.
If you have always wanted to taste giraffe or crocodile meat, this is the place ! But dont worry, there is also more ''normal food'', meat, chicken, with a lot of fresh and tasty vegetables.
Plates are huge.
Really a good spot in Berlin, in the Lychener Str, which is full of good spots as for restaurants. Be careful, might need a reservation to get a seat !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maria Elisabeth W.Trondheim, Norja0314. helmik. 2015
Love, love, LOVE this place! They can improve their service sense the prices are so high though.
