Kimchi is a nice casual korean cafe style restaurant and the food here is limited but good quality and all priced under £10. I had the kimchi tofu jigae and the kimchi pancake which was pretty big but tasted amazing. In the jigae they also added a poached egg into it which gave it a nice taste, and the spicy factor was perfect; not too spicy. The service is average bit efficient, the food came quite quickly and another good thing is that banchan is served complimentary here, which doesn't seem to be the case with many UK korean restaurants. They also have some Japanese dishes on the menu like sushi, gyoza, temaki and teriyaki. There is parking right outside and it's pay and display but very cheap: 50p for 30 mins and £1 for an hour. The atmosphere is very casual like a cafe, so it's great for lunch as well as dinner.

Overall, authentic and tasty Korean food that's well priced and made to a great standard.

my friend and i ordered take out during the lunch special hour & picked up right before they closed for break and they were nice to have made our order in such close in time!
i got the bibimbap and my friend got the bulgogi which came in sturdy boxes! the portion size for the bibimbap was really big and was full of veggies and the egg! the bulgogi was mainly rice though but still good!

It is a very small restaurant with tasty food, although there are not many seats & sometimes you may have to wait for 20 mins. I have been many time. My favourite is their seafood pancake. It was so yummy, I ended up learning how to make one at home.

I have tried their seafood soup, chicken soup & Bibimbap. The mixed rice wasn't as great as I expected because I've eaten mixed rice so many times in the place on the back of Sand Bar which was so delicious. The soups were very nice & usually served with rice. My friend ordered sweet & sour chicken here which was delicious.

This is a cheapish Korean restaurant in Manchester compared to the ones in city centre. But not that cheap if you consider it as a take away. Nevertheless I always see this place full with Chinese, European & Asian customers.

Their pancake is a must have

I took my friend to Seoul Kimchi for a catch up lunch today and I couldn't believe it that she had never known of its existence before! So, it's time for some Yelping to get more people to come!

It's a small, family run Korean bistro serving some tasty food like Bibimbap, noodles (udon or soba) and Bulgogi for under a tenner! There's quite a few sides such as the Kimchi pancakes, Spicy rice sticks and gyozas to share if you're feeling hungry or generous. There's also a few Japanese dishes like sushi, Katsu and Tempura too. They have Bento boxes, and some lunch specials that are exclusively for take away. One of my favourite thing about this place is that they serve a selection of kimchi or namul depending on what mains you order. I love the kimchi and the little sweetened dried anchovies!

There is a collection of Korean/Japanese soft drinks, snacks and ice cream too if you're working late and need to bring back a snack!

TL;DR - Authentic Korean and Japanese food in an intimate setting - great stuff.

Seoul Kimchi is a bit off the beaten track unless you are close to the University of Manchester and the Royal Manchester Infirmary, but it's well worth the trip. It's a small place but with plenty of seating squeezed in. There are menus on the table and you order your food at the counter.

The menu is a mixture of Korean and Japanese dishes - I had a dumpling soup (which came bubbling in a hot stone bowl) and Sparky had bibimbap. We were also given a selection of sides including some delicious kimchi .We had green tea to drink, but you can also help yourself to unlimited and free barley water.

Service was great, food was great and the prices were very reasonable. The crowd seemed to be mainly East Asian students and families, so I will assume that it was authentic cuisine but it was certainly delicious. They also sell snacks and treats you can take away with you.

It's a small place to go for lunch/dinner but food was delicious.
The best thing we ordered was sushi, eel was amazing.
I went with a friend and because we are spanish we are used to share our food, we literaly fight with our spoons and chopsticks for bibimbap.
Pork kimchi was ok but it didn't matched our taste.
It was also good that you can serve your own water and tea as much as you want.

I've been meaning to try Seoul Kimchi for ages but I'm rarely in this part of town. However it's actually a cheap cab ride from the city centre and well worth the effort.

This is overall the best Korean food experience I've had in Manchester. For a start out unlike some other places you automatically get complimentary banchan - excellent kimchi and a delightful sweet soybean dish I hadn't tried before. The Korean seafood pancake was quite eggy but that texture actually worked well with the crispy spring onions and chewy squid. Fantastic spicy dip as well. The beef bibimbap was excellent (I notice another review says she preferred eatGoody's - to me they were around the same but I just take this moment to say the Manchester Uni is really blessed to have 2 excellent Korean joints, unlike anywhere else in the city!) and they leave the red chilli sauce with you so you can get the mix exactly to your taste. Prices are reasonable and while it wouldn't necessarily be an everyday lunch it's definitely somewhere you could afford fairly regularly.

As other reviewers have noted this is very small place and although we got seats straight away, arriving before 12 on a Wednesday, I think arriving later you could well end up waiting. However I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place which at the moment I would say is the top choice for anyone wanting to eat Korean food in Manchester.

This place is so lovely! The food was really tasty, the waitress was really helpful, the cafe was cute! It's all positive from me.

I got Bibimbap with beef. It came in a sizzling hot stone bowl so was still cooking when it arrived which added to the fun. This had ground beef, a fried egg, rice and chopped vegetables but was greater than the sum of it's parts! It also came with a seaweed soup and some teeny side dishes. One with a fish and egg taste. One with beans and some fried seaweed? And some pickled veg in a spicy sauce. As you can probably tell I don't really know my Korean food but I'm going to be happy changing that. These are quite strong tastes but good ones! Ask carefully if you don't like fish. They also have some Japanese options like Katsu curry and sushi which I'm keen to try.

I have to give special mention to the plum ice-cream which was divine. At 3 scoops for £2.50 it's also a total bargain!

There is a toilet at the back, accessed through the tiny kitchen so you can have a nosy at what they're doing. Although the whole kitchen is open actually so if you like to watch your food being cooked you'll be happy. They seem to be fans of Picasso here and have lots of postcards and little pictures. I especially enjoyed the little display in the loos (see photo)!

They also sell chilled Korean drinks and dried goods plus some biscuits. Apparently it was a Korean food shop before. There's enough space for 2 customers to park on the pavement directly in front of the cafe. I managed to park here as it was full of international students and upper brook street is half closed :) There is also paid parking on the street next to it. This place is really small though so it fills up quickly.

Absolutely delicious meal. We had the dumpling soup, bibimbap, kimchi stew and bulgogi. Kimchi tastes fresh. The owner is a lovely woman who is very kind to her customers. Highly recommend!

I love this place - while normally I stay clear of anywhere that sells two very different cuisines, this place delivers authentic Korean and Japanese food and is just so so good. I could live on the bibimbap and be happy forever. The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, the food is fast and delicious and the tiny restaurant buzzes with an air of Korean tranquility.
You may need to wait for a table but trust me, it is worth it.
