Visited Cologne after Oktoberfest this year, and stumbled into this place on a rainy weeknight. Ate in the bar area with a mostly older crowd. One gentleman who spoke excellent English assisted us with proper ordering technique, and gave us a little history of the place. Schnitzel wasn't amazing but it definitely hit the spot, with some nice kölsch to wash it down.
If I return to Cologne I would like to visit Stüsser's again.

It's a rustic restaurant in Köln with a lot of charm. When I went, there were lovely old men on a bar speaking a thick German, and families on tables. Honestly, I loved the atmosphere, I believe it's as authentic and charming as I could find.
The waitresses were helpful, smiling and patient with my broken German. About the food, I'm not expert in German cuisine but I found it delicious! I ordered the Krüstchengulasch (Gulasch soup with meat) and Bauernmettwurst with Sauerkraut and Potato purée and a beer that they chose for me. Overall, a great experience. I'll be coming back on my next visit.
